Similar in concept to AppBar this is a widget for the Yahoo Widget Engine (formerly Konfabulator) which I wrote to serve as a quick-launch bar after replacing my windows shell with bbLean (blackbox).
It bears some similarity to Apple’s dock in that the icon being hovered over is expanded and made less transparent. The icons are not part of the widget and are loaded during configuration, the ones I am using are from the GPL Outline icon pack.
